Representatives from Price Rite Marketplace and the University at Buffalo football team donated 43 “sacks” of food to New Beginnings Food Pantry on Tuesday at Price Rite Marketplace of Amherst. The donation was a result of the football team’s 43 sacks this season and included canned goods, fresh produce, rice, pasta and water.

In a joint effort to tackle hunger in the local community, Price Rite Marketplace donated a “sack” of groceries each time a member of the Bulls’ defense sacked the opposing quarterback this past season.

Jon Wiltrout, senior manager of human resources at Price Rite Marketplace and Lance Leipold, head coach for UB football team, were onsite to present the donation to Carol Young of New Beginnings Food Pantry, Amherst Baptist Church.
