Girl Scouts of Western New York is accepting nominations for the 2020 Women of Distinction Awards now through March 9

Girl Scouts of Western New York announced the community at large has an opportunity to nominate extraordinary Western New York women for its 2020 Women of Distinction Awards. Nominations are being accepted now through March 9.

Women of Distinction is Girl Scouts of Western New York's all-girl-led women's event of the year. This annual dinner and awards fundraising event celebrates outstanding Western New York women who embody the Girl Scout values of courage, confidence and character in their professional and civic lives and, therefore, are role models for today’s girls. Nominees for the Women of Distinction Award can be involved in any category of work or professional endeavor, such as the arts, business, government, law enforcement, social service, finance, education, sports, health care or management.

Each year, Girl Scouts of Western New York calls upon the public to help identify amazing women who exemplify excellence through their professional achievements as well as their volunteerism. Those selected to be 2020 Women of Distinction will develop a mentoring relationship with a Girl Scout and meet with her to share insights and advice. The Girl Scout will then prepare a speech about her mentoring experience and present the recipient with her award during the ceremony on Sept. 17.

To qualify, nominees must live or work in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans or Wyoming counties. She does not need to have been a Girl Scout, and anyone in the community can nominate someone for the Women of Distinction Award.

Sponsors help make the Women of Distinction Awards program possible, and sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information about the Women of Distinction Awards, the award guidelines and nomination form, or sponsorship opportunities, visit www.gswny.org or call 1-888-837-6410.
