Businessman Emin Eddie Egriu announced he will challenge Congressman Brian Higgins in the Democratic primary election for Congress in NY-26. Egriu, a local builder and community activist, said, “Higgins has sat there too long for any good he has done. It’s time for him to go.”

Egriu’s construction projects include local churches, mosques, synagogues, schools, clinics, businesses and homes. He employs over 50 workers in his company at the peak of construction season. He has been a project director, and an instructor for PUSH Buffalo (People United for Sustainable Housing).

He said his key issues will be providing health care for all people, bringing the troops home from “pointless foreign wars,” ending the federal war on marijuana users and reducing the nonviolent prison population.

Egriu said, “Brian Higgins has provided zero leadership in his overlong political career as signified by his failure to take down the Skyway, an obvious obstacle to further waterfront development.”
