Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper opens enrollment for spring 2020 water academy

Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper has opened enrollment for the spring 2020 water academy course, running Thursdays from 2-3:40 p.m. (lab portion for ECC registrants only) and 4-6 p.m. (lecture portion for all registrants), Jan. 23 through May 14.

Adults looking to connect to their local waterways and learn more about current environmental problems and solutions in the region can find what they are looking for in this place-based environmental education course.

This semester’s topics include:

• Sustainable landscape design
• Saving unique habitats
• Scajaquada Creek snowshoe tour
• Healthy land, healthy people: Native medicinal plants
• Restoring living shorelines
• Living infrastructure
• Urban agriculture
• Sewage & you
• Love Canal

The course will be held at the East Hill Foundation (17 Island St., North Tonawanda) and at various field locations.

College students are also eligible to enroll and can receive credit for this course.
