The Buffalo History Museum announced a new, free celebration for families this summer plus updates to its regular lineup of fun.

First up is the Family Summer Solstice Celebration on Friday, June 21. The museum will host family-friendly activities including a bounce house, lawn games and food truck fare. General admission is free courtesy of M&T Bank and the M&T “Third Fridays” program.

Starting July and continuing throughout August, “Hands-On History” will be held from 1-3 p.m. every Tuesday. This new program invites guests to experience Buffalo’s history in a new way, offering specific tours in the museum’s spaces and a related activity. “Hands-On History” is included in general admission and is free for museum members.

With construction underway to restore the park-side entryway under the museum’s portico, the museum will not be hosting its traditional lineup of “Parties on the Portico” from June through September. Instead, the community is invited to celebrate the progress made to date and the transformation yet to come at “Party for the Portico” at M&T “Third Friday” on Aug. 16. This 21-and-up event will feature live music, mini-tours of the construction progress, free snacks and a cash bar. Ticketing information will be announced in coming weeks.
