History Center welcomes future docents

The Niagara History Center will hold a free event for current and prospective junior docents on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at 215 Niagara St., Lockport. Middle school and high school students and their families are invited to participate in the free event for prospective junior docents and volunteers. Local entertainer and motivational speaker Nels Ross will present a program for the students, and a free lunch will be provided afterward.
The junior docent program provides students the opportunity every summer to participate in activities at the History Center, including conducting tours, assisting with children's programs and working on special projects. Participation in these activities can be used toward community service requirements for schools and other obligations.
The junior docent program is made possible through a Yahoo! Community Benefit Grant.
