The Western New York Independent Living Family of Agencies, with support from a number of community agencies, is holding its fourth biannual Summit on Aging and Independence, with expert speakers conducting workshops in 16 different areas. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Adam's Mark Hotel, 120 Church St., Buffalo.
The summit is a forum dedicated to addressing present and future needs of older Americans from all cultures and ethnicities. A wide range of presenters and exhibitors will explore trans-generational program development and delivery, community networking, programs and environments for inclusion and aging in place, health care and healthy lifestyles, gerontology, advocacy, public policy, assistive technology, cultural programs, dementia care, senior programs and services, and wellness. The keynote speakers during the lunch will be: Sandy Markwood, CEO of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging; and Greg Olsen, director of the New York State Office for the Aging.
