A thunderstorm invaded the Village of Lewiston late Monday afternoon, dropping trees, limbs and branches. A South Fifth Street transformer was injured, which temporarily left some residents without power. That portion of roadway was closed for the first half of Tuesday, as village Department of Public Works crews cleaned up the site and restored the power generator.
At the Village of Lewiston work session Tuesday night, Mayor Anne Welch said, "I want to thank our Department of Public Works, our police, our fire company, National Grid and our residents for the storm cleanup. They did an awesome job. Everybody worked together. Without a little bit of the brush on the side of the road today, you wouldn't know that a storm went through here."
