NYPA ranked 6th among utility companies on national list
The New York Power Authority is featured in Forbes magazine's 2018 list of America's Best Mid-Size Employers, ranking sixth in the utility industry on the list of companies "liked best" by employees.
"It's a great honor to be recognized as one of the top utilities in the country by such a prestigious global media company, and our inclusion confirms what all of us at the New York Power Authority already know: that America's largest state power organization is a great place to work," said Gil C. Quiniones, NYPA's president and CEO. "Our programs and policies are among the most progressive in the industry and we take pride in consistently providing opportunities for challenge, inclusion, diversity, education and advancement. At NYPA, job satisfaction is the norm."
Forbes worked with research firm Statista, a provider of market and consumer data, to compile the list, which focused on companies with 1,000 to 5,000 employees in their U.S. operations. An independent survey was taken of 30,000 American employees working for large or mid-size companies and institutions in the U.S. A total of 500 companies were ranked in the mid-size category. NYPA ranked 266th on the overall list.
The employees were consulted anonymously through several online panels.
Employees were asked their opinions of their employers and asked to rank on a scale from 0-10 how likely they were to recommend their employers to friends and family. Participants were also asked to recommend other employers in their respective industries.
They also answered 35 questions about work-related topics, giving opinions on a series of statements about working conditions, salary, potential for development and company image regarding their current employer.
NYPA employs about 1,800 workers in New York. Creating a dynamic, engaged and upwardly mobile workforce of the future is a key component of NYPA's 2020 strategic plan.
NYPA's team includes people with a range of skills and jobs: engineers, power line repairers, business services, project managers, wildlife habitat experts, museum professionals, policy experts and data pros - just to name a few. Check out available job openings and intern opportunities.
