Band performs at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at KeyBank Center as part of 'WorldWired Tour'
Metallica is continuing their "WorldWired Tour" in 2018 following a string of sold-out shows last year. The band will perform inside KeyBank Center in downtown Buffalo at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 2, and range from $65 to $135 (including $4 facility fee). Purchase tickets at the KeyBank Center box office, online at www.tickets.com, or by calling 888-223-6000. A random handbill policy will be in effect. A limited number of handbills are available now. All tickets are subject to applicable service charges and fees, though no service charge applies at the KeyBank Center box office. Citi card members may purchase tickets beginning at 11 a.m. local time tomorrow, and Spotify will have pre-sale tickets starting on Wednesday. For a complete list of other presales, visit https://metallica.com.
Metallica continue to raise funds for their All Within My Hands Foundation, which supports a cross-section of national, local and Bay-area charities, music education programs and local food banks. Continuing their collaboration with Crowdrise, Metallica encourages fan to make a donation when purchasing tickets to the upcoming shows. When fans donate, they'll be entered to win tickets, pre-show party passes and meet-and-greet passes, while one lucky winner will be flown to the last show on the tour. For more information, visit https://www.crowdrise.com/Metallica2018.
The fall/winter tour will mark a few firsts for the band. Each show will get rolling with the "Light It Up" pre-show party hosted by the band's very good friend Jim Breuer. The former "Saturday Night Live" player, along with a DJ, will get the night rocking with some great tunes.
Every ticket purchase includes the choice of a standard physical or standard digital copy of Metallica's "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct." Ticket buyers will receive information by email after the ticket purchase.
Metallica's "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct" received two Grammy Award nominations in the Best Rock Album category for global chart-topping album, and Best Rock Song for the song "Atlas Rise."
"Hardwired...To Self Destruct" was originally released Nov. 18, 2016 on Metallica's own Blackened Recordings record label and debuted at No. 1 around the world, selling over 800,000 copies worldwide in its first week. The RIAA platinum-certified album is the top-selling rock album of 2017.
Metallica dropped a few hints this past weekend and made the tour news official on Monday. The "WorldWired Tour" returns to North America following last summer's 25-date stadium run. Metallica is bringing the in-the-round production currently being seen in European arenas to the U.S. and Canada starting on Sept. 2 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Metallica was formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield and has become one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 110 million albums worldwide while playing to millions of fans on literally all seven continents. They have scored several multiplatinum-selling albums, including 1991's "Metallica" (commonly referred to as "The Black Album") - with sales of nearly 17 million copies in the U.S. alone - making it the best-selling album in the history of Soundscan.
Metallica has also garnered numerous awards and accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.
In December 2013, Metallica made history when they performed a rare concert in Antarctica, becoming the first act to ever play all seven continents all within a year, and earning themselves a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
