Residents at The GreenFields Continuing Care Community in Lancaster recently presented a check for more than $10,000 to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY.
The residents were an instrumental part in raising these needed funds.
Organizers stated, "Too many of our residents are debilitated by dementia and, at times, they may be almost unrecognizable to their loved ones and they have been unfairly robbed of their most cherished possessions - their memories. With such a grim outlook, it can be hard to find hope. That's why it's so inspiring to know that a significant portion of the $10,000 was raised by the very people that Alzheimer's has taken the most from - our residents and their families."
The residents have taken adversity and turned it in to an opportunity to raise awareness about Alzheimer's through their own stories, becoming a valuable part of the mission to find a cure for a disease.
The GreenFields Continuing Care Community on Broadway in Lancaster provides residential living at GreenField Manor and assisted living at GreenField Court.
