Robert B. Kimberlin passed at the age of 60 on Aug. 1, 2017, at his home in Naples, Florida. He had been battling cancer for nearly two years.
A skilled carpenter, Kimberlin had lived and worked in Florida for the past 36 years, first as the maintenance manager for the Marriott Hotel on Marco Island, and later for his own business, Bull Durham Carpentry.
He was born in Niagara Falls and attended primary and high school on Grand Island, where his family still lives and where he enjoyed coming home to for Christmas. Before relocating to Florida, Robert worked for Marty's Towing and Eichel Construction.
Robert enjoyed outdoor sports, working on his vehicles, and was an avid firearm enthusiast. He is remembered by family, friends, and neighbors, in both New York and Florida, for his kind-hearted nature, his willingness to always lend a helping hand, and especially for his love of animals. Despite his illness, at the time of his death, he was caring not only for his own pets, but for a multitude of strays, which he had dutifully had spade and inoculated in addition to feeding.
He is survived by his mother, Margot Roberts, and her husband, Alan; stepmother. Carol Kimberlin; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and George Hoage; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Jennifer Roberts; step-brother, Joe Garcia; step-sister, Karen Garcia; nephew, Bradley Lansberry, and his wife, Colleen; niece, Wynonna Roberts; aunts and uncles, Madga and Manfred Kreksch, Barbara and Carl Niederhofer, and Bernd Mayr; cousins in Germany and Oklahoma, as well as great nephews and nieces.
Donations to the Cancer Alliance of Naples or to the SPCA in memoriam are appreciated.
