Buffalo Elite Hockey League will offer youth development opportunities in seven different age divisions

HARBORCENTER Vice President and Director of Hockey Nik Fattey today announced the Buffalo Elite Hockey League, which will begin play this April at HARBORCENTER. The youth league will offer participants elite springtime competition under the guidance of high-level coaching instruction.

"Spring is a very important season for hockey development," Fattey said. "HARBORCENTER already features tremendous off-season training programs led by the Academy of Hockey and IMPACT Sports Performance. We are now adding a game component, which will allow the area's best players to compete against an elite level of competition, further establishing HARBORCENTER as a one-stop hockey destination."

The Buffalo Elite Hockey League will feature seven divisions of competition: elite high school (1997-2000 birth years), girls elite high school (1997-2000), 15U (2001-02), 13U (2003-04), 11U (2005-06), 9U (2007-08), and 7U Mite BEHL (2009-10). It is open to elite-level AAA travel players, who can apply online at http://harborcenter.sportngin.com/behl.

All divisions will compete in an 11-game schedule, with all games played at HARBORCENTER on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. BEHL games will be played with fast-paced, non-checking, 5-on-5 rules. To ensure equal ice time, all games will utilize a 1:15 shift system, designed to push the pace.

BEHL teams will enjoy all of the amenities that have contributed to the popularity of the HARBORCENTER Cup tournaments, including use of first-class locker room and training facilities, full Web support with updated standings and stats, and postseason awards.
