Lewiston-Porter High School staging production of 'The Drowsy Chaperone'

Lewiston-Porter High School announces the production "The Drowsy Chaperone" will open at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, with shows continuing next Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 16 and 17.

The musical tells the story of the "Man in Chair," a witty, agoraphobic Broadway fanatic. In an effort to brighten his sad mood, he listens to a recording of the fictional 1928 musical comedy "The Drowsy Chaperone."

As he listens to his record, characters appear in his dingy apartment, and it is transformed into a Broadway set complete with sparkling furniture, painted backdrops and glitzy costumes. The story brings together a host of comedic characters, memorable tunes, mischief and mayhem!

The production involves a large number of Lewiston-Porter students in the cast, pit orchestra and stage crew under the direction of Carolyn Quigley, Jamie Burritt and Kevin Duncan.

Show times are at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Lewiston-Porter High School Auditorium. Tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for students and children under 18. Doors open half an hour before show time and seating is general admission. To order tickets in advance, call the main office at 716-286-7263.
