James E. Tranter passed away Oct. 18 at his home in Ocala, Florida. Jim was a longtime resident of Grand Island. He was an employee of DuPont in Niagara Falls for 18 years. He retired in 1998 and moved to Florida.
Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marianne (Shear) Tranter; two sons, James J. Tranter, and Andrew (Kim Korman) Tranter; two grandchildren, Kayla and Kyle; and two brothers, Don (Betty Lou) Tranter and Robert P. Tranter.
Jim loved fishing in the Niagara River with his brother Don and loved helping his friends, neighbors and family with his vast knowledge and talents in home repair and building. Family will be planning a memorial picnic in June on Grand Island.
Everyone will remember his friendly smiles and hugs and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
