College-bound students are full of expectations. But many are worried when it comes to paying for their education. Better Business Bureau serving Upstate New York is proud to again offer the Edward A. Schmidt Student of Integrity Memorial Scholarship, which honors students who exhibit high standards of ethical and honest behavior. This year, BBB will award $21,000 among eight college-bound high school seniors across upstate New York.

Graduating seniors who plan secondary education are encouraged to apply through their guidance office. New for 2014, BBB will accept an additional nomination from each school, which is intended to support military families. Students who plan military service or have a service member within their household (active or veteran) are eligible.

"This is an exciting opportunity for high-school students that hold true to important values," said Warren Clark, president of Better Business Bureau serving Upstate New York. "We're especially proud to honor military service through this year's scholarship program. BBB is dedicated to building an ethical foundation for our youth, and offering student aid to those who demonstrate moral behavior is extremely gratifying for all who support our mission of trust in the marketplace."

BBBs Student of Integrity Scholarships will honor students for their demonstration of high ethical standards and personal integrity. Candidates will choose an ethical dilemma scenario - all common situations one may face during a business career. Students then submit a written essay on how they would work to overcome the dilemma.

Independent judges review hundreds of applications each year to select the winners.

Interested students are asked to contact their school administrators for guidelines. Nomination forms, availableonline at bbb.org/upstate-new-york, must be signed and submitted by school administrators. Applications are due by May 30 and will be accepted by BBB Foundation of Upstate New York at 100 Bryant Woods South, Amherst, NY 14228

All upstate New York high school students can enter to win an iPad Mini by going to BBB's Facebook page and posting a message about why it is important to be ethical and honest in today's marketplace. Deadline to post is also May 30.
