Gleason's level 5 team wins in Spring Graffiti

The Niagara team from Gleason's School of Gymnastics, level 5, took home first place in the Spring Graffiti in Hamburg on April 21.

In the 7-to-8-year-old division, Kendall Sobczyk, a second-grader at Errick Road Elementary School, placed fifth on vault, third on bars scoring a 9.125, and sixth on beam, with an overall score of 35.975, landing her in sixth place overall.

Emily King, a second-grader at West Street Elementary, placed third on vault, first on bars with a 9.225 score, third on beam, second on floor with a score of 9.375, with an overall score of 36.90, which earned her first place.

Skylar Williams, a third-grader at Drake Elementary, placed fourth on vault with a score of 9.1, and had an overall score of 35.10, with which she qualified for the state meet.

In the 10-year-old division, Marissa Peters, a fourth-grader at Starpoint Elementary, placed fifth on vault, first on bars scoring 9.5, first on beam with a 9.3, and fourth on floor with an overall score of 36.775, earning her a first place spot.

In the 12-year-old division, Erica Weber, a sixth-grader at Edward Town Middle School, placed fourth on vault with a score of 9.3, fourth on bars with a 9.225, and had an overall score of 35.825, placing her fifth.

Maddison Walton, a seventh-grader at Edward Town Middle School, had an overall score of 36.70, which earned her second place overall. She placed first on bars with a score of 9.6, second on beam with a 9.2, and fourth on floor.

•Gleason's Gymnastics' Niagara Frontier level 6 team also participated in the Spring Graffiti.

In the 10-year-old age group, Jenna Peterson, a fifth-grader at Errick Road Elementary, placed ninth all around for her age group with an overall score of 35.125. It was her highest all-around score of the season. She earned fourth place on bars with a score of 8.95. Her high score of the day came on vault with a 9.225, which earned her sixth place for the event. She also placed ninth on beam and 10th on floor.

For the 11-year-old age group, Nicole Ross, a sixth-grader at Edward Town Middle School, placed ninth on vault with a high score of 9.0. She also placed ninth on bars, 12th on floor and 13th on beam. She finished 10th all round with a 34.525.

In the 12-year-old age group, Samantha Cirrito, a sixth-grader at Edward Town Middle School, placed fifth on beam and bars. She placed eighth on floor. Her high score of the day came on vault with an 8.95, which earned her eighth place. She also finished eighth all around with a 34.925

In the 13-year-old age group, Samantha Peterson, an eighth-grader at Edward Town Middle School, placed ninth on floor with an 8.9. She also placed 10th on bars and 13th on vault.

•Gymnasts from around the area competed at the Spring Fling held at the Buffalo Niagara Court Center. Competing in level 4 of the Gleason's School of Gymnastics Niagara Team was Starpoint Intermediate student Kayleigh Kuebler of Wheatfield, who had a 9.3 on beam, which earned her seventh place, and a 9.05 on floor, which earned her eighth place. As a group, the level 4 Niagara team gymnasts finished in third place for the meet.
