Level 5, 6 teams do well at Nickel City Classic

The Niagara team from Gleason's School of Gymnastics level 5 team took second place overall in the Nickel City Classic meet held in Orchard Park on Feb 12.

In the 7-9-year-old division, Kendall Sobczyk, a second-grader at Errick Road Elementary School, placed third on vault, third on bars, third on beam and ninth on the floor with an overall score of 35.35 landing her in first place overall. Emily King, a second-grader at West Street Elementary, placed second on bars with a 9.1, 10th on beam, sixth on floor, with an overall score of 34.95 which earned her sixth place.

In the 10-year-old division, Marissa Peters, a fourth-grader at Starpoint Elementary, placed first on bars scoring a 9.45, eighth on beam and eighth on the floor, with an overall score of 35.275, earning her a fifth-place spot. Erica Beyer, a fifth-grader at Errick Road, placed 11th on the vault, ninth on the bars, fifth on the beam, with an overall score of 33.225, which earned her 11th place.

In the 12-and-over division, Erica Weber, a sixth-grader at Edward Town Middle School, placed fifth on bars with a 9.0 score. Maddison Walton, a seventh-grader at Edward Town Middle School, had an overall score of 35.925, which earned her third place overall, placing third on vault, first on bars with a score of 9.575, 11th on beam and third on floor.

Gleason's Gymnastics' Niagara Frontier level 6 team also participated in the Nickel City Classic.

In the 7-10 age group, Jenna Peterson, a fifth-grader at Errick Road Elementary, placed seventh all around for her age group with an overall score of 34.25. She earned fourth place on vault with a score of 9.15. She also placed seventh on bars, eighth on beam and 12th on floor.

For the 11-year-old age group, Samantha Cirrito, a sixth-grader at Edward Town Middle School, placed seventh on beam and 10th on bars.

In the 13-year-old age group, Samantha Peterson, an eighth grader at Edward Town Middle School, placed 11th on floor.
