Update: Trusello's opened May 27 and, for the next two days, literally had lines out the door as people waited for some old-fashioned pizza.

Fans of old-fashioned pizza, we have the Best. News. Ever. Trusello's pizza is making a comeback!

The Trusello family has purchased Vincenzo's Pizza on Center Street, and will soon reopen it as Trusello's Pizza. Tony Trusello (grandson of Antonio and Elisa Trusello) said the transaction will be finalized next week, at which point the building will receive a renovation - some paint, some family pictures - and, if all goes well, the eatery will reopen in the middle of May.

Trusello said the pizzeria will serve subs, wings, burgers, chicken fingers and deli sandwiches. But, most importantly, "We're going to stay with the traditional Trusello's (pizza)," he said.

That's right! The red-sauced, olive-oil-infused pizza that was a smashing success behind the City Market on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls - the pizza that so many have tried to recreate since the green-colored bakery closed in 1996 - will be available for purchase right in our own backyard.

Trusello said he plans to offer two additional pizza options - both top-secret recipes he inherited from his grandfather.
