To kick off its special 10th anniversary season, Theatre in the Mist, in conjunction with The Edwin Mellen Press, proudly presents "The Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum with music by famed Buffalo-born composer Harold Arlen. This production is a live stage version of the MGM classic movie by the same name.

"The Wizard of Oz" is an enjoyable show for people of all ages. Skip down the yellow brick road with Dorothy and her friends as she embarks on the journey home.

Starring in this timeless production is Susan Laxton as Dorothy, Bill Kennedy as the Scarecrow, Joe Castiglia as the Tin Man, Jason Bek as the Cowardly Lion, Lisa Marie Leone as the Wicked Witch of the West, Molly Harding as Glinda (the Witch of the North) and Jerry Mosey as The Wizard of Oz. More than 40 children from various schools in Niagara and Erie Counties will portray the Munchkins.

Joey Bucheker directs this production.

"The Wizard of Oz" features songs from the movie, including "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead," "We're Off to See the Wizard," "If I Only Had a Brain" and, of course, the Academy Award-winning "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

The show will be presented at the Niagara Falls High Performing Arts Center, 4455 Porter Road, Sept. 17-25. Showtimes are Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
