The Home Assistance Referral Team, founded by the late Rev. Dr. Paul L. Moore of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston in 1982, is celebrating 40 years of service this year. In celebration, HART is planning a drive-thru pick-up brunch Saturday, May 21, at 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston.

A press release explained, “In the past, we have hosted a dinner and awards ceremony honoring those who have impacted HART and those we serve.”

But as board Chairwoman Patty Berggren said, “When we began planning this year’s event, we were sensitive to the pandemic and bringing people together. We knew that we still wanted a celebration, and wanted to honor our caregivers in some way, so we decided on hosting our first drive-thru brunch.

“We have a great location at our HART office in Lewiston, so we moved forward with plans.”

Executive Director Christine S. O’Hara said, We are grateful to all our sponsors for the ‘Circle of HART’s’ brunch. The Maid of the Mist is the title sponsor, and HART will be printing 100 T-shirts with the Maid of the Mist logo, as well as the ‘Circle of HART’s’ brunch logo, to be given to our caregivers to show appreciation for all they do. In addition, volunteers at the event will be wearing the T-shirts the day of the event.”

Other sponsors include Sage Management, the Rev. Dr. Joyce E. Sirianni, WNY Asset Management, CarStar, The HomeCare Partners, Hardison Funeral Home, Wegmans, Modern Disposal, St. Peter R.C. Church, Schoellkopf Health Center, Steve’s Heating & Cooling, Health System Services, The Environmental Services Group, Jayne and Don Anderson, Patty and Rick Berggren and Cheryl and Peter Pfohl.

Ticket price is $125 and serves two. The menu has been created by Joe Zarillo of Starry Night Café, and includes quiche, homemade banana bread, spring mix with feta and berries, granola parfait with fresh fruit, charcuterie with homemade crostini, custom jams, cookies donated by Elderwood Residences at Wheatfield, and coffee from the Orange Cat Coffee Co.

Call the office at 716-754-8313 to purchase a ticket and reserve a pickup time between 8:30 and 11 a.m.
