Ryan, Erin and Daniel Vecchies opened their first Flip Burger eatery in June 2015 in an ideal location – right across the street from Prospect Park, heading into Niagara Falls State Park. They just opened a new Flip Burger – and once again found a choice spot: right next to Hibbard’s Original Frozen Custard on Portage Road.
Lewiston resident Ryan Vecchies said, “There's a lot of tourism. The location, being next to Hibbard's, I think will definitely benefit it – and probably benefits Hibbard’s, too.”
For those who might not be familiar with the handcrafted fare, Vecchies said, “It's mainly burgers and fries. They're all build-your-own. The customer can design them however they want. There are also chicken options. Same idea: build your own. You can get grilled or fried. … There's a hot dog, too.”
Vecchies said Flip Burger’s offerings stand out because “We use higher-quality ingredients. The bun is brioche. The burger itself is a little bigger than you get at a similar restaurant, such as a Five Guys. The extra toppings – like if you get grilled onions, mushrooms, stuff like that – it's all grilled to order. Same as the bacon. Grilled to order. So, really the freshness and ingredient quality is what differentiates it.”
Upon opening, “Initially, it'll be open from 11 to 8 Sunday through Thursday, and then 11 to 9 Friday and Saturday,” Vecchies said. “Depending on staffing, what I want to do is I'd like to be able to open till 10 or 11 during the summer, especially with the events and concerts that go on.”
