The Kiwanis Club of Lewiston donated 50 backpacks (full of school supplies), and other personal items, to the Magdalene Project of Niagara Falls this past week. The donation is part of the Kiwanis New York District's First Lady's Project for 2019-20, which is to help homeless or less-fortunate students in local communities.

The Lewiston Kiwanis partnered with the Lewiston-Porter Builders Club, Lew-Port Key Club, Niagara University Circle K, Violante Dental and Stuart Sports to donate the backpacks, school supplies, blankets, books, and other basic living supplies. Members of the Lewiston Kiwanis collected the donations, purchased school supplies, packed the backpacks, and delivered them to Joanne Lorenzo, founder and director of the Magdalene Project, which is a mission for people on the streets of Niagara Falls.

Club President Lee Allan said, “Lewiston Kiwanis is very thankful for the partnership with the Magdalene Project. We are thankful for the local charity organizations, which help guide the creation of some of our service projects.”
