HOPE Day, the annual day of giving to benefit Appeal 2020, brought in $250,160 on May 22. This total will be increased by another $108,750 in matching funds for a grand total of $358,910.

The goal of HOPE Day is to inspire first-time donors and those who already gave to go above and beyond to help those most in need, in addition to rallying Catholic Charities supporters.

“Once again, even during a pandemic, the City of Good Neighbors stepped up in a big way to offer hope and help for their fellow neighbors in need,” said Rick Cronin, Appeal 2020 chairman. “Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of individual and corporate donors, Catholic Charities can invest right back into their programs and services, many of which are needed now more than ever. From food pantries and emergency assistance to one-on-one counseling, Catholic Charities continues to provide hope for individuals and families, from infants to the elderly, throughout the eight counties of Western New York.”

With the latest funds raised on HOPE Day, Appeal 2020, which helps to fund Catholic Charities’ programs and services across dozens of sites in Western New York, along with a number of programs and ministries through the “Fund for the Faith,” has raised $7,071,828, or 70%, of this year’s $10 million goal.

Donations can continue to be made securely online at ccwny.org/donation or mailed to Catholic Charities, 741 Delaware Ave., Buffalo, NY 14209, through June 30.

Approximately 160,000 people in need were helped by Catholic Charities over the past year.
