Trinity United Methodist Church: 'Pink Bag Ladies' support veterans again

The “Pink Bag Ladies” at Trinity United Methodist Church, who make care packages for female veterans serving in all the armed services all around the world, have turned their charity to male veterans this season.

Gift bags from the United Methodist Women at Trinity will be distributed to male veterans at the VA Hospital for the holidays. The bags, containing toiletries and personal products in decorated bags, were funded by a $500 donation from the Grand Island American Legion Post No. 1346. Trinity United Methodist Church Pink Bag Ladies, members of Trinity United Methodist Women, have been donating health care items to lady veterans for many years. It started when the ladies made approximately 100 pink bags filled with health care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, bar soap, lip palm, hand sanitizer, hair brushes and medium-sized toothpaste, shampoo and moisturizer. So far, more than 1,500 bags have been delivered to the Buffalo and Batavia locations.

Four times a year, the ladies gather to decorate bags in patriotic, holiday, seasonal or pink themes, that are then delivered.

In September of this year, the members of the Grand Island Post No. 1346 donated $500 to the ladies for more supplies and to support their ongoing work.
