On Thursday evening, Niagara County Legislator Jesse Gooch of Wheatfield presented a donation to a veterans military families support organization.

Gooch is the creator and director of “Thursdays on the Water,” a free concert series at Gratwick Park. Each week, Gooch chooses a charitable organization to whom he donates the parking proceeds from the concert series.

This time around, Gooch donated the parking proceeds to American Gold Star Mothers Chapter 216. Gooch made the announcement on stage while flanked by representatives from Chapter 216, the Veterans One-stop Center and the National Guard.

“We owe our deepest gratitude to the men and women who serve our nation. One way to show our gratitude is to care for their families, too,” Gooch said. “The Gold Star Mothers of America is an amazing organization of moms whose children made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. I could think of no organization more deserving of our support, and I’m so thankful to all who donated to this cause.”

Gooch has run Thursdays on the Water for three years, using the event to raise money for a number of charitable organizations, including the Veterans One-stop Center and Meals on Wheels.
