Niagara County Community College has been chosen to participate in the Mentor-Connect Project funded by the National Science Foundation’s advanced technological education program. NCCC is one of only 22 community colleges nationwide to be selected to partake in the unique mentorship opportunity.

As a Mentor-Connect participant, NCCC will apply for NSF ATE grant funding under the guidance and support of foundation experts, yielding a 70 percent chance of receiving an award of up to $300,000.

NCCC administration and faculty are collaborating with NSF ATE mentors to develop a proposal to implement critical advancements to the college’s STEM education programs, with a particular focus on advanced manufacturing, workforce development, and fostering entrepreneurship. The proposal will include the development of partnerships local school districts, four-year colleges, and businesses and corporations to establish employment pathways for students seeking a career in STEM and advanced manufacturing fields.

Through this endeavor, NCCC aims to produce highly qualified STEM technicians as a means to satisfying workforce needs throughout the Western New York region.
