Kiwanis Club of Niagara-Wheatfield annual pancake breakfast, basket raffle

The Kiwanis Club of Niagara-Wheatfield will host its annual pancake breakfast and basket raffle on Sunday, March 24, at the American Legion Post, 6525 Ward Road, Town of Wheatfield. This is in conjunction with New York State Maple Weekend, www.mapleweekend.com.   

Breakfast, served from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., includes sausage, juice, coffee, tea, all-you-can-eat hot pancakes and warm, real New York state maple syrup.  

Breakfast’s for adults and children 12 years and up is $8; children 4-11: $4; and children 3 and under eat free. There will be over 100 baskets of various themes, gift cards and donations in the basket raffle.

Proceeds will benefit the club’s children’s programs, K-Kids leadership programs at West Street, Colonial Village and Errick Road Elementary schools, scholarships, sending kids to a week of summer camp at Kamp Kiwanis, and other programs.

On Saturday, March 2, the club members purchased, prepared and served a breakfast for the annual Gliding Stars’ “Breakfast with Bach.” Friday evening was prep night for the morning banquet. Sunday morning the Stars’ guests began attending the banquet line where the Kiwanis members served a variety of juices, ham, Canadian bacon and cheese sliders, breadless quiche (baked veggie omelet) hot made to order and Belgian waffles. Coffee was supplied by Bob Burns’ Tim Hortons. A multitude of sweets were brought in by members of Gliding Stars.

The Kiwanis Club of Niagara-Wheatfield will sponsor a “shred-it event” on Saturday, April 6, at Raymour and Flanigan’s, located at 8535 Niagara Falls Blvd. The shredding will take place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., with refreshments provided by Raymour and Flanigan. There is no charge for the shredding, but donations will gladly be accepted. The Kiwanis reserve the right to limit boxes or quantity of items.
