Cosmetology students learn about being Pretty in a Minute

The Cosmetology classes at the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center recently had an informative and energetic guest speaker.

Anthony Gallo, a hairdresser from Las Vegas, and a representative from Pretty in a Minute, spoke to the students about his career path and inspired students to excel at the education they are receiving at Orleans/Niagara BOCES.

“Never stop learning,” he said. “This field is constantly changing, and the more skills you have the more you can command for your services.”

The students gasped when he told them he can make $400 and up for straightening someone’s hair with a keratin treatment.

“I do very well for myself, and that is in a city where there are lots of options and professional stylists.”

He also talked and gave a demonstration using the products his company sells and offered students the kits at a very cut-rate price to help them start their careers.

“I was so impressed with Anthony,” said one of the cosmetology teachers, Cathy Bonaccorso. “The students really enjoyed hearing him tell about his life and career. He gave them great advice. He was a real asset to us in getting that message across.”
