Holiday decorating contest in NT

The North Tonawanda mayor's office, in conjunction with the North Tonawanda Department of Youth, Recreation and Parks reported that entries are being accepted for the city's Decorate For The Holidays contest.
The contest is open to any North Tonawanda resident who decorates their home or business for the holiday season. Entries are being accepted for four different categories that include:
• Classical: Lighting is conventional and older fashion looking, use of wreaths, garland and deer.
• Themed: Use of one idea throughout entire display or lighting concept.
• Clark Griswold: Non-conventional methods of decorating; over the top displays.
• Business: Window or storefront holiday theme displays for any NT Business.
A fifth category will be the Mayor's Award, which is at the discretion of the judges. Judges also reserve the right to place entries in appropriate categories.  The city also encourages residents to "Nominate Their Neighbor."
Judging will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 13, beginning at 6 p.m. by the mayor's office. All entries should turn their lights on at 6 p.m. and keep them on until 9 p.m. Prizes will be presented to the winner in each category during the awards ceremony at the Tuesday, Dec. 18 Common Council meeting.
Interested residents should complete and return an entry form by no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Entry forms are available at the mayor's office in City Hall, or the Department of Youth, Recreation & Parks office located at 500 Wheatfield St. All entries should be mailed to 500 Wheatfield St., North Tonawanda, NY, 14120.
