Devin's Message Foundation has partnered with national youth speaker, Brooks Gibbs, to create a video being shown to students in schools across Western New York through October, National Bullying Prevention Month. Gibbs has spoken at numerous schools across the region thanks to the young nonprofit organization.
The video can be viewed HERE. The film was made in Western New York last month when Gibbs presented to another round of schools in the area. The film begins with an introduction by Joe Smajdor, founder of Devin's Message Foundation. Joe's grandson, 15-year-old Devin Kurzdorfer, committed suicide April 15, 2017, after endless cyber-bullying and harassment in school.
Smajdor said he believes implementing anti-bullying programs in schools will help combat the dangerous epidemic.
"We ask the community to lease continue to support us as we grow, and help students and parents understand how serious this problem is," he said. "Building self-esteem in children is the key to preventing these negative behaviors. Gibbs has been a great source of wisdom to our community."
Gibbs is a youth author, speaker and teen life strategist who has provided schools and students the framework to end bullying with his "love is greater than hate" message.
In addition, Devin's Message Foundation announced it would offer scholarships to students from schools across the region this November.
