Artpark: Say, yOu want A Revolution?

Artpark was chockfull of top musical talent this week.
On Tuesday, officials rebelled against Mother Nature and made the morning call to bring The Spinners concert in from out of the rain. That is, the show moved indoors for fear of inclement weather.
For the first time, then, a "Tuesdays in the Park" concert was held inside the Mainstage Theater. Patrons didn't seem to mind, as they were singing, dancing and moving to the grooving beat of The Spinners.
Hats off to the Artpark volunteers, who - with the help of brightly colored tapes - helped move guests into designated areas for front-of-stage, sponsor and general admission ticketholders.
It was a quick turnaround for everyone as Of A Revolution brought its "Just Like Paradise" tour to the outdoor amphitheater on Wednesday. As always, O.A.R. entertained the lively Artpark crowd while performing hit songs.
The surprise of the night was Matt Nathanson, who expertly presented 16 songs divided up by hefty doses of crowd interaction. He offered sing-alongs, stories and jokes while pointing out people in the front-of-stage area for pep talks. While most of his set was, as he called it, "man folk," Nathanson also put a clever twist on covers of Def Leopard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me," "You're The One That I Want" from "Grease," and David Bowie/Queen collaboration "Under Pressure."
The "Tuesdays in the Park" concert series ends next week with a headline performance by Boy George & Culture Club, with special guests The B-52s and Tom Bailey of Thompson Twins. The show begins at 6 p.m. For more information, or for tickets, visit www.artpark.net.
