Recently, former administrator Fred Barone (posthumously) and Falcons coaches Richard Bartha and Armand "Ace" Cacciatore were named to the Section VI Hall of Fame.
Barone, a N-W Class of 1990 Hall of Fame member, was a vital asset to getting athletic facilities at Niagara-Wheatfield and helped Section VI play playoff football games at what is now New Era Field.
Bartha, a N-W Class of 2003 Hall of Fame member, coached the Falcons track and contributed to N-W athletics for over 50 years.
Cacciatore, a N-W Class of 1999 Hall of Fame member, is famously known for coaching the Falcons football and wrestling teams. According to wheatfieldwrestling.com, Cacciatore coached the Falcons wrestling team for over 20 years and had a record of 330-30. Also, according to the Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, Cacciatore's football teams produced 158 wins in 26 years, including three Section VI Class AA championships.
The three will be inducted at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 at the Columns Banquets, 2221 Transit Road, Elma.
