N-W volleyball player finishes top 10 at national event

Kelsey Tylec, 14, and a freshman at Niagara-Wheatfield High School; and Cassie Thayse, 14, freshman at Penfield High School, participated in the 14 and under division of the USAV Junior Beach Volleyball National Championships in Siesta Key, Florida, from July 24-26.
Wins against Georgia, Oklahoma and Oregon pushed them into the gold bracket for playoffs against Wisconsin, Tennessee and Texas. Battling gusts of wind up to 32 miles per hour, Kelsey and Cassie finished ninth overall in a pool of 63 teams from across the country.
