This year's Best of SUNY Student Art Exhibition featured a piece, "Untitled" by Niagara County Community College graduate, Danielle Dirks. The art exhibition showcases work by student artists from across the 64 State University of New York campuses, allowing for a year-round display to be seen by wider audiences at the State University Plaza in Albany, the SUNY Global Center in New York City, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office in Washington, D.C. Danielle's piece was selected to receive an honorable mention award and a prize of $500.
As a student at NCCC, Danielle received many honors, including the Business, Technology, and the Arts Division Award for excellence in fine arts, as well as the SUNY Chancellor's Award for student excellence.  Dirks graduated with high distinction from NCCC in 2017 with an A.S. in fine arts. She just finished spending a semester abroad in Florence, Italy at Santa Separata International School of Art. In addition to her studies, Dirks worked with Anelli Mancanti, a non-profit community center assisting with design projects. Dirks submitted a poster for an international art contest, and her piece was selected for inclusion in the Shape the Future exhibition, which is currently traveling across Italy. Dirks will be entering her senior year as a visual communication and design major at Nazareth College in Rochester.
