Thu, May 17th 2018 05:00 pm
At 11:12 p.m. Monday, May 14, the Niagara County Dispatch Center received several 911 calls reporting a serious injury accident having occurred in front of 4637 Saunders Settlement Road in the Town of Cambria.
On location, deputies located a Chevrolet Traverse and a Honda motorcycle in the south side ditch. Early investigation indicated the westbound Traverse, operated by a 19-year-old female, crossed the center line into the eastbound lane and struck the eastbound motorcycle, operated by a 23-year-old male, head on. The motorcycle operator was ejected after impact and came to rest in the ditch. The motorcycle became lodged under the vehicle and was dragged approximately 100 feet through the ditch and became dislodged after the Traverse struck a culvert. The motorcycle then caught fire and was extinguished by an unknown passerby.
The male motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene. The female vehicle operator was transported to Mount St. Mary's Hospital for evaluation, but was uninjured.
The operator of the eastbound motorcycle involved in the fatal accident was 23-year-old Bradley S. Chawgo of Lockport. The westbound vehicle was driven by 19-year-old Ajjada Amos from Niagara Falls. No charges have been filed as of yet and the accident is still under investigation by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Unit.
