On April 12, Buffalo Prep was recognized at the 2018 National Partnership for Educational Access (NPEA) annual conference as an Educational Access Sustainer. The honor was in recognition of Buffalo Prep's steadfast support of NPEA over the past several years.
Buffalo Prep joined nearly 400 educators from across the country at the conference, all committed to supporting underserved students on their paths to and through college and beyond.
"It is an honor to be recognized with the most talented people in the industry," said Patti Stephen, executive director of Buffalo Prep. "This national recognition is extremely exciting, as it validates both the quality of our programs and the hard work of our remarkable staff."
This is the second honor Buffalo Prep has received from NPEA. In 2014, it won the Excellence in Collaboration Award for demonstrating successful and positive results in forming, cultivating and implementing a collaboration with The John R. Oishei Foundation and the University at Buffalo that serves to increase the education opportunities for underrepresented students.
NPEA is a membership association dedicated to promoting quality, success and growth amongst member organizations, partner schools and communities committed to educational access. These schools and organizations help their students to secure admission and success in college with additional support programs that can start as early as elementary school. The goal of NPEA and its partners is to give all students an equal opportunity to acquire a quality education and help them achieve their goals in higher education and life.
Buffalo Prep was founded in 1989 by several key community leaders who recognized the need for additional educational opportunities in the city. Buffalo Prep has worked with thousands of underrepresented students to provide academic and social support in a rigorous yet nurturing environment. Through its preparatory programs, Buffalo Prep students are able to enter and excel in local private and competitive high schools, as well as colleges and universities across the country.
One hundred percent of Buffalo Prep scholars graduate high school and are accepted to college. For more information about Buffalo Prep, visit buffaloprep.com or facebook.com/buffaloprep.
