Wheatfield Garden Club celebrates 35 years

Fri, Nov 3rd 2017 03:25 pm
In October 1982, several women residing in Wheatfield had an idea to start a gardening club. Thirty-five years later, the Wheatfield Garden Club is still going strong.
Over the years, the ambitious women have developed lovely gardens around the Town Hall, community and recreation centers, in Fairmont Park and flower boxes on the major roads entering the town. Through various committees, the club has presented programs during their meetings on a wide variety of interests. The travel committee organizes bus or car-pool trips always with an emphasis on educating as well as entertaining the members.
On Oct. 25, the town historian, Justin Higner, presented a proclamation from Town Supervisor Robert B. Cliffe acknowledging the long history and the many achievements of the Wheatfield Garden Club.

The next scheduled meeting is 7 p.m. March 28, 2018, at in the Community Center.
