Niagara Hospice is putting a unique spin on its traditional fundraising event ("Cocktails & Ca$h"). Basically, there is no event this year - but, that doesn't mean one can't still buy a ticket and help provide charity care to individuals facing end-of-life illnesses who are uninsured or underinsured.
Niagara Hospice has opted to hold a "Stay Home for Hospice" no-show reverse raffle this year as a fundraiser. It is selling tickets and sponsorships for the "non" event. The drawing will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, via Facebook Live.
Ticket buyers are urged to spend the evening at home, on the couch, and with their families.
"With so many fundraisers and events going on, a lot of people don't have the time to add another one to the list," said Allison Bolt, special events coordinator at Niagara Hospice. "This will replace our usual dinner, and we wanted to encourage people to spend quality time with their families, but still raise money with a focus of supporting the compassionate care of Niagara Hospice."
Unlike a typical raffle, in a reverse raffle the purchaser of the last ticket drawn wins the grand prize ($10,000 in this case). The second-to-last ticket drawn will win one-day Park Hopper Passes at Walt Disney World Theme Parks, $400 Southwest Airline gift card and a $100 Disney World gift card. Additionally, more than 60 prizes will randomly be given away throughout the night.
Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased by contacting Bolt at 716-280-0766. For more information on the "Stay Home for Hospice" raffle, visit the event calendar page at www.NiagaraHospice.org. All proceeds from the event benefit Niagara Hospice.
