New event to debut this holiday season
Representatives of Niagara Falls gathered at the Niagara Falls Visitor Center on Thursday to announce Jingle Falls USA, a series of holiday activities and celebrations designed to appeal to families and attract guests.
The celebrations stretch over three Saturdays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16, and include holiday events that will help reel in the holiday season.
Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster said, "For those three weekends, if you're looking for something to do with the family, even if you don't know exactly what the schedule is, you know you can show up to downtown Niagara Falls and there is going to be something to do."
Events and activities throughout the three Saturdays include:
  • Evening outdoor illuminations along Old Falls Street USA, Third Street, Niagara Falls State Park and at Niagara Falls Fire Department firehouses.
  • "Gingerbread Wonderland," the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute's life-sized gingerbread house, visits with Santa Claus, cookie decorating, demonstrations and other children's activities (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 25 through Dec. 23).

Destination Niagara USA's vice president of marketing and brand management, Julie Gilbert, said, "It's a wonderful opportunity to attract visitors during a typically slower time of year, and also bring local residents down to downtown Niagara Falls."
Gilbert noted the events should encourage visitors to keep coming back to the city.
Organizations that have come together to create this initiative are the City of Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls Community Development, Old Falls Street USA, The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls State Park, Destination Niagara USA, #LiveNF, Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, Downtown Niagara Falls Business Association, Discover Niagara Shuttle, Rainbow Air Helicopter Tours, Niagara Falls Board of Education, Niagara Falls Fire Department, Niagara Police Athletic League, Sheraton At The Falls and the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission.
