Yolanda (DiBartolomeo) Ortenzi of Grand Island passed away at 95 on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport.

Born in Welland, Ontario, she was the eldest child of the late Pasquale and Ersilia DiBartolomeo. When Yolanda was young, she spent time in beautiful Torre Dei Passeri (Pescara) Italy at the family home. When arriving back in Welland, she met and then married her love, Dario (Dave), on June 13, 1942, at St. Mary's Church. Yolanda worked at Kimberly Clark, Boeing Aircraft in Philadelphia, and also worked at a popular Italian restaurant, using her own family recipes.

Yolanda and Dave, in their youth, could be seen dancing the night away or playing cards with close friends. She was a faithful member of St. Stephen R.C. Church on Grand Island as well as serving on the Altar Society. Yolanda enjoyed bowling with the Golden Agers Bowling Team and often won high scores. She loved to exercise, and did so, well into her late 80s. Yolanda was also known for her excellent cooking abilities and also loved to bake. She enjoyed listening to her music, gardening, crocheting and doing needlepoint.

Mrs. Ortenzi is survived by one daughter, Diana (Mark) Cavanaugh, currently of Texas, formerly of Cleveland. In addition to her husband Dario, she is predeceased by her infant twin daughter, Anda; one brother, Amedeo Bartolomeo; and her sister, Carmela Esposito. Yolanda is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and two sisters-in-law, Gina Ortenzi and Lena Bartolomeo. Yolanda also is survived by several cousins in Pescara, Italy.
