Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has elected Nancy Gara, vice president and manager of the Power City Office of First Niagara Bank, to a three-year term on its board of directors.

Gara, who worked with HSBC Bank for many years before proudly joining First Niagara earlier this year, is a two-time recipient of HSBC's Manager of the Year Award, a recipient of its prestigious CEO Award and a 2011 Niagara Gazette Woman of Distinction.

A respected community leader, Gara is a longtime member of Memorial's investment and pension committee and chaired the Medical Center Foundation's successful Schoellkopf Park revitalization campaign. She and her husband, Sam, co-chaired the medical center's inaugural Premier dinner gala.

Gara serves on the boards of the Sisters Hospital Foundation and the Riverdale Cemetery Association, is a former member of the Niagara University advisory board, and previously served on the boards of the Niagara Falls Water Authority, NFC Development Corp. and Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce, a predecessor of the Niagara USA Chamber.

Nancy and Sam live in Lewiston, where they enjoy their family and friends, including nine very special grandchildren.
