Mediterranean Festival makes plans for 8th annual event

St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church will hold its eighth annual Mediterranean Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 13-15, on the church's spacious grounds at 1073 Saunders Settlement Road (Route 31), a half mile east of Military Road in the Town of Lewiston.

The three-day festival will feature ethnic foods, music and cultural entertainment. In addition there will be a religious displays and tours of the church and sanctuary, a "Kid's Zone," basket auction, and more.

The goal of the festival is to extend the presence of the church into the community. A portion of the proceeds from this year's event will benefit The Heart Center of Niagara at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and the Neighborhood Health Center of Mount St. Mary's Hospital.

The Mediterranean Festival is fun for the entire family. Ethnic foods will include Peach Festival souvlaki, stuffed grape leaves, Greek and Lebanese pastries, homemade breads, falafel, hummus, tabouli, spinach pies and kibbe.

The church has expanded its off-road parking area to handle festival visitors.

Hours for the event will be 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, July 13; noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 14; and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 15.
