Gleason's gymnasts finish season on high note

The level 4 gymnasts of Gleason's School of Gymnastics Niagara Team, pictured, competed at the Team Cup in Syracuse, the last meet of the 2011-12 season. The Team Cup was a state meet hosted by the Head Over Heels Gym on June 3. Out of the 11 teams that competed in the meet, the Niagara team won the first-place award for the total team score. Among the level 4 gymnasts were Faith Martell, Alana Mosher, Lauren Ratajczak and Kendall Suffoletta of Grand Island.

Gleason's Gymnastics level 5 team competed in the 2012 Level 5 State Meet hosted by Orchard Park Gymsters at Gymnastics Unlimited May 18 to 20. Each gymnast who competed qualified with a score of 33.5 in a previous meet.

In the 9-year-old division, Elaina Page, a third-grader at Huth Road Elementary, scored 9.2 on bars, 9.0 on beam, 9.125 on floor, with an overall score of 35.775. Mara Ellsworth, also a third-grader at Huth Road Elementary, scored a 9.025 on bars, 9.050 on floor, with her overall score of a 35.3. Jenna Giambra, a fourth-grader from Stella Niagara, also competed, with her highest score on the bars with a 8.875. Her overall score was a 33.55.

In the 10-year-old division, Mia Belstadt, a fourth-grader at Huth Road Elementary, scored a 9.125 on bars and a 9.225 on the floor. Her overall score was a 34.60.

In 12-year-old and over division, Alexis Studley, a seventh-grader at Veronica E. Connor Middle School, placed 14th on vault with a score of 8.725 and an 8.9 on the beam. Her overall score was 34.475.

This is the last meet of the season.
