Lawn Mower Races becoming 'great Grand Island community event'

Sunday's Father's Day Lawn Mower Races on West River raised thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.

"It was a great event, and the preliminary estimate is that we'll be donating close to $4,000 to the Relay For Life," said Grand Island Town Councilman Gary Roesch during Monday's Grand Island Town Board meeting. "It was very well-attended."

Roesch added that if the Lawn Mower Races "continues to grow, it will be a great Grand Island community event." (photo by K&D Action Photo)
