North Tonawanda Walmart plans to hire 300 associates

Walmart announced this week it will be hiring approximately 300 associates to work at the new North Tonawanda store, which is slated to open in August at 866 Niagara Falls Blvd. To facilitate applications, the retailer has set up a temporary hiring center at 2850 Niagara Falls Blvd., in the Town of Amherst.

Store manager Chris Lazarou said the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates.

"We are thrilled to add this Walmart to North Tonawanda and bring good jobs with career opportunities to the area," said Lazarou, who began his Walmart career in 1993 as an hourly associate at the Walmart in Niagara Falls. Lazarou said associates are needed to work in all areas of the new store.

Walmart's benefit program is available to eligible full- and part-time associates and provides a variety of affordable health and well-being benefits, including medical insurance with no lifetime maximum. Walmart also offers matching 401(k) contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise for store associates, an associate stock purchase program and company-paid life insurance. Additionally, eligible associates receive a quarterly incentive based on store performance.

The majority of associates will begin work immediately to help prepare the store for its grand opening in August.
