Erie County Sheriff's Office Reports for May 18, 2012

The Erie County Sheriff's Office reports its officers responded to 195 calls from May 5 to May 11. Below is a sampling of incidents the ECSO reported to the Island Dispatch.

Deputies responded to 10 burglary false alarms for the dates of this report.

Saturday, May 5

•East River Road, hunters - A complainant stated that hunters were shooting on his property. The hunters were advised.

•Long Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated a pickup truck was seen exiting the I-190 with debris falling from the bed of the truck. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

•Garden Parkway, illegal dumping - A complainant stated a vehicle was seen dumping debris. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

•Whitehaven Road, property lost - A complainant stated he lost some personal items while staying at a hotel.

•Baseline Road, suspicious person - A complainant stated a number of youths were seen on the side of the road making obscene gestures at passing motorists. Deputies were unable to locate the youths.

•Amy Drive, fire - A complainant stated he could see black smoke coming from the fields behind his house. Deputies located a small contained campfire and advised the subjects.

•Fareway Lane, animal complaint - A complainant stated a dog in the neighborhood was barking for a couple of hours. The dog was brought inside by the homeowner prior to patrol's arrival.

•Whitehaven Road, fireworks use - A complainant stated she could hear fireworks in the area. Deputies were unable to locate the source of the noise.

Sunday, May 6

•Bonnywoods Drive, fireworks use - A complainant stated she could hear fireworks in the area. Deputies located the source and advised the subjects.

•Broadway, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that someone tried to enter her home through her front door. The subject fled while the complainant was calling 911. Deputies checked the area, but were unable to locate any subjects.

•East River Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a one-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Ransom Road, animal loose - A complainant stated a dog was loose in the neighborhood. Deputies were unable to locate the animal. The dog control officer was notified.

•Buckhorn State Park, animal loose - A complainant stated three dogs were loose in the area of the park. Deputies were unable to locate the animals. The dog control officer was notified.

•I-190, suspicious person - A passing motorist stated he saw a subject in camouflage walking in the weeds on the side of the highway. Deputies located the subject and cited him.

•Bedell Road, disorderly person - A complainant stated a woman was yelling obscenities at other people in an apartment complex. Deputies located and advised the subject.

•Bush Road, welfare check - A complainant stated that family members have not been able to make contact with a subject and were concerned for her welfare. Deputies made contact with the subject.

•Grand Island Boulevard, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Buckhorn State Park, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that his vehicle was spray painted by an unknown person or persons.

Monday, May 7

•South State Parkway, road obstruction - A complainant stated that there were traffic cones in the roadway. Deputies located the cones, which were marking a hole in the road.

•Fernwood Lane, all-terrain vehicle operation - A complainant stated that a dirt bike was riding up and down the street. Deputies located the operator and advised him.

•Baseline Road, marijuana possession - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a juvenile offender for unlawful possession of marijuana and traffic infractions. The juvenile offender was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

Tuesday, May 8

•Broadway, animal complaint - A complainant stated that she had found a loose dog. The dog control officer was notified.

•East River Road, animal loose - A complainant stated a loose dog was seen in the area. Deputies were unable to locate the animal, and the dog control officer was notified.

•Old Carriage House Road, animal complaint - A complainant stated a neighbor has repeatedly walked her dog without a leash. Deputies located the subject and advised her.

•Grand Island Boulevard, weapon possession - Following a traffic stop, Deputies arrested a 20-year-old man from Alden for criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree (a misdemeanor). The man was allegedly found to be in possession of brass knuckles. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

Wednesday, May 9

•Windham Lane, youth activity - A complainant stated that youths were seen in the woods near the dead end. Deputies were unable to locate the subjects.

•Oak Ridge Road, pistol permit investigation - Deputies conducted a background check of an individual who applied for a pistol permit.

•Stony Point Road, wire down - A complainant stated a large wire was hanging from a utility pole. Patrol located the pole and made notification to National Grid.

•Love Road, youth activity - Complainant stated she saw some suspicious youths in the neighborhood. Deputies were unable to locate the subjects.

•Ransom Road, criminal mischief - A complainant stated someone damaged her vehicle sometime during the day. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Thursday, May 10

I-190, drunk driving - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 54-year-old man from Tonawanda, for driving while intoxicated and other traffic infractions. The driver registered a .12 percent blood-alcohol content after submitting to a chemical analysis of his breath. The man was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

•Grand Island Boulevard, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist with a disabled vehicle.

Friday, May 11

•Countryside Lane, larceny - A complainant stated someone stole items from her vehicle sometime during the night. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Fix Road, larceny - A complainant stated someone stole items from his vehicle sometime during the night. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Carter Creek Drive, larceny - A complainant stated someone stole items from her vehicle sometime during the night. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Grand Island Boulevard, accident injury - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident with seemingly minor injuries. One occupant was transported to the hospital.

•Carter Drive, disorderly person - Deputies responded to a report of numerous juveniles yelling obscenities at neighbors. Deputies located some individuals involved. Two juvenile offenders were arrested for disorderly conduct as a result of the incident. Both were released on appearance tickets returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.

•Grand Island Boulevard, marijuana possession - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 49-year-old man from Williamsville for unlawful possession of marijuana and traffic infractions. The man was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Grand Island Court.
