Lewiston-Porter School District voters approved a $40,472,775 budget on a 739 to 397 vote on Tuesday. The budget is less than 1 percent over last year's and calls for a tax levy of 3.51 percent.

Voters also agreed to a $2.7 million capital project, voting 751 to 336 in favor of the measure. The project calls for repairs necessary for the safety of students in the high school and middle school.

In an uncontested school board election, Michael Skowronski received 865 votes and Nancy Lucas netted 847 votes. They will fill the seats of Wendy Swearingen and April Fideli, who chose not to seek re-election.

More than 1,100 people cast ballots. There were 95 absentee ballots not reflected in the count above, but the vote would not have made a difference in the outcome.
