Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, announced Friday the latest Consolidated Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) funding to local municipalities. The funds are part of the 2012-13 state budget that Ceretto helped to enact. Niagara County and its local governments are set to receive more than $5 million in CHIPS funding.

"This funding will help make needed improvements to our region's roads and highways, reducing accidents and saving lives," Ceretto said. "But better roads are not only safer for local commuters, they are an important part of the local economy. CHIPS will help make the region a more attractive place for businesses, while enhancing the quality of life for area residents."

"While the City of Niagara Falls has made significant strides to repair its streets, there's a great deal more work ahead. These CHIPS dollars are much needed and greatly appreciated," said Niagara Falls City Council Chairman Sam Fruscione "I want to thank Assemblyman Ceretto for working to secure these funds for our City."
