Movie review: 'Silent House' leaves viewers on edge of their seats

"Silent House" begins with an introduction with the audience meeting our soon-to-be heroine, a young woman (Sarah) who's returned with her father to their old family vacation home. This home is conveniently located in the woods and by a lake. The two unite to pack up all belongings, board it up, and say their partings to the house before it goes on the market.

The house tends to symbolize Sarah: she's broken, and peeling at the seams like the paint peeling from the walls, and the broken windows that mirror her life.

When Sarah's uncle Peter joins the mix, unpleasant creepy events begin to fall into place. Throughout the rest of the movie, the audience is on the edge of their seats. The movie starts off with small events first, such a noise here and there, a falling piece of plastic sheeting elsewhere in the house. After Sarah's father is attacked, the doom that lies within the house draws Sarah back in. "Silent House" is a suspenseful movie filled with many fear factors.

Overall, this movie is action-packed, keeping the audience on their toes. I had to wonder while watching this movie, was this a really good movie, or just really good acting? Sarah, who is played by Elizabeth Olsen, stole the show, and completely made it her own. Sarah made this her movie, and she kept the audience intrigued by every move she made, and every word she said. Without Olsen playing the main role as the heroin, this would have been another rundown, scary movie, with the same plot line that we have all seen. The audience is able to feel her emotions and understand the fears that she has throughout the movie.

This movie is rated "R" for suspense and violence. I would recommend this movie to anyone who is looking to see a scary movie that's outside the box. With Olsen's acting, this is sure to be a movie viewers will not forget.
